Use the material workbench
Preview a precise selection before reserving it.
The visual material workbench is in the browser Workshop. Choose a recipe and batch count, then select an actual lot for each material input where desired. Leaving a slot automatic uses the lowest-quality eligible ordinary-template stock. In /play, use Work → Manufacturing quote or Craft materials with the Selected field for exact lot choices.
The browser’s Inspect material quote and /play → Work → Manufacturing quote calculate the proposed quality, properties, selected inputs and time without reserving anything. You can compare a different selection or process before committing. A quote does not guarantee those materials remain available if you use them elsewhere.
When the quote suits your purpose, review and start the measured manufacture with the same selection. The game validates the inputs again, reserves the exact batches and records their contribution to the output.

01Choose the pattern
Open the material workbench and select recipe and batch count.
Required input slots and available carried batches appear.
02Select real batches
Choose eligible lots or leave a slot automatic.
The proposal identifies which physical stock it will use.
03Inspect the quote
Compare process, quality, properties and completion time.
Your bag remains unchanged by the preview.
04Commit the manufacture
Review the chosen materials and start the job.
The exact materials move into the job reservation.
05Inspect the result
Wait for the batch to settle, then inspect its origin.
The finished object or lot retains the selected manufacturing provenance.
